Knowing When to Stop is Part of the Victory

There are some people who say “You must know when to stop”. This statement is usually used for a person who works really hard at something and does not receive any good progress at all. But, is the statement really true? And can it be used in every person or every effort they’ve made? Let’s think it out.

For this case, I want to use the QFT sequence, this framework is usually used when you want to do critical thinking about a case. The first step to use this framework is to Ask as many questions as I can. So let’s list the questions that occurred.

– What is the thing that we must stop to gain victory?

– Who needs to stop?

– Where is the situation that we need to stop?

– When do we need to stop?

– Why do we need to stop?

– How do we reach the conclusion that we need to stop an effort?

– What if I did not stop my effort at all?

– After I stop my effort, so what next?

– So, what do I gain from stopping my effort?

– What is the effect when I stop my effort?

– Is stopping your effort really bringing you to a better condition?

After we list our questions, let’s Improve our questions. We can do this by categorizing our questions into open/closed-ended questions.

– What is the thing that we must stop to gain victory?

Category: Closed Ended

Improved Question: What is something that you like to stop so you can gain victory?

– Who needs to stop?

Category: Closed Ended

Improved Question: Who do you think needs to stop?

– Where is the situation that we need to stop?

Category: Closed Ended

Improved Question: Where do you think the situation can encourage people to stop?

– When do we need to stop?

Category: Closed Ended

Improved Question: When do you think that people need to stop?

– Why do we need to stop?

Category: Open Ended

Improved Question: What situation or condition urges us to stop?

– How do we reach the conclusion that we need to stop an effort?

Category: Open Ended

Improved Question: What conclusion that we need to stop?

– What if I did not stop my effort at all?

Category: Closed Ended

Improved Question: What will happen if we do not stop our efforts at all?

– After I stop my effort, so what next?

Category: Closed Ended

Improved Question: What do you think that we must do after we stop our effort?

– So, what do I gain from stopping my effort?

Category: Closed Ended

Improved Question: What do you think we will gain from stopping our effort?

– What is the effect when I stop my effort?

Category: Closed Ended

Improved Question: What do you think is the effect when we stop our effort in something?

– Is stopping your effort really bringing you to a better condition?

Category: Closed Ended

Improved Question: –

After all of these, we will Prioritize the 3 best questions.

– Where do you think the situation can encourage people to stop?

– What do you think is the effect when we stop our effort in something?

– What do you think I must do after I stop my effort?

I think these 3 questions are the best of all the other questions. Let’s try to answer them one by one.

– Where do you think the situation can encourage people to stop?

Answer: I think the statement tells us when the effort that we do we really know is pointless to be continued despite the unfavored condition. But it’s really a tricky thing to know whether this condition really occurs or not because we usually encourage ourselves to not give up at all.

– What do you think is the effect when we stop our effort in something?

Answer: I think the effect of this matter is we can direct our energy and resources in new directions that are more favorable for use than the one before. Because of this, we can save unnecessary energy or resources on the thing that we really know is pointless to do anymore.

– What do you think that we must do after we stop my effort?

Answer: Find new ways that are more profitable than the one before. Do some research, gain knowledge, plan it well, and execute it carefully. With all of this, I believe we can achieve more in the new thing that we put effort into.

My final conclusion is, that it’s okay to stop when you know that is the time to stop. But you must examine carefully whether it’s the right time to stop or not and make some effort to the new ways after you stopped the one before.
